Abstract

The article describes the scientific and teaching experience of Professor Mario G. Losano at the University of Eastern Piedmont, where he held the chair of Philosophy of Law. Losano's decision to leave the University of Milan (Statale) for a newly established university was dictated by the opportunity offered to him to activate a three-year degree course in Legal Informatics, in which basic computer science subjects would be placed side by side with traditional legal subjects, aiming at providing students with significant computer science skills. This unique degree course in Italy represented the practical realisation of an avant-garde project long contemplated by Losano. The course was discontinued after his retirement.
